The 2900 is the pneumatic configuration featuring a diaphragm actuator or positioning accessories, while the 2900E is engineered with a linear electric actuator. Although both bodies may share specific valve designs, their power supply, thrust output, and fail-safe requirements differ.

High-Capacity Globe Valves for Industrial Control
The Warren Controls 2900 Series features cast-iron globe control valves designed for regulating compatible media, complete with flanged connections. The two-way 2920, 2922, and 2923 models are engineered for liquid, gas, and steam service, while the three-way 2930 and 2932 models deliver precise mixing or diverting for liquids. This series is not universally interchangeable with all valves: flow capacity, differential pressure, packing/trim selections, and face-to-face dimensions must be verified by our technical specialists.
Flow Rate and Control Precision
Equal percentage plugs on two-way models; linear plugs on three-way models. Engineered with a rated rangeability of 50:1, featuring dedicated Cv values specific to each diameter and trim configuration.
Body and Trim
Class 125 or 250 flanged cast iron body; selection of trim materials in bronze, 300 series stainless steel, 17-4 PH, or Alloy 6 depending on model and application requirements.
Seat Tightness
Class II, III, or IV shut-off depending on construction: the 2922 double-seat and 2932 bypass configurations do not meet the same shut-off requirements as the 2920, 2923, or 2930 models.
Temperature and Packing
PTFE, EPDM, or graphite depending on the part number; rated up to 400°F on select configurations only. Valve size, flange class, and internal seal selection may derate this limit.
2920, 2922, 2923, 2930, and 2932
Three 2-way control valve configurations and two 3-way solutions, engineered with specific variations in diameter, shut-off tightness, and differential pressure.
TWO-WAY · SINGLE SEAT
2920 · Unbalanced Check Valve
The 2920 unbalanced, single-seat plug valve delivers Class IV shut-off. The actuator is selected based on the flow rate and differential pressure required for your process.

Class IV
If Class IV shut-off is required, the 2920 is a viable option to evaluate against the balanced 2923. The final selection will depend on the required actuation thrust.
TWO-WAY · DOUBLE SEATED
2922 · Balanced Check Valve
The double-seat design of the 2922 reduces operating torque while delivering high-capacity flow. Its Class III shut-off distinguishes it from standard Class IV single-seated configurations.

Class III
For high-capacity applications, up to a Cv of 960 on the documented 10-inch version. Seat shut-off meets Class III standards.
TWO-WAY · BALANCED CYLINDER
2923 · Balanced Disc Check Valve
The single-seat design featuring cylinder balancing and an O-ring is engineered to deliver Class IV shut-off with reduced actuation force. This construction requires relatively clean process media and routine inspection of the internal seals.

THREE-WAY · MIXING
2930 · Mixing Valve
Two inlets feed a common outlet, featuring a linear plug design. The 2930 precisely regulates liquid blending when inlet pressures are closely matched.

50 psid maximum
Maximum temperature: 300°F up to 5"; 150°F for 6" and 8". Do not apply the general 400°F limit to the 2932.
Cast Iron, Pressure-Temperature Ratings, and Sealing Solutions
The general range of -20 to 400 °F does not apply to every configuration. Manufacturer charts specify ratings based on valve type, flange class, trim material, size, and packing.
BODY AND TRIM
Flanged Cast Iron Class 125/250
This series is specified with cast iron bodies and flanged connections in compliance with ANSI/ASME B16.1. Do not represent it as a WCB carbon steel or CF8M stainless steel valve.
EPDM, PTFE, and graphite
EPDM is suitable for select water systems, but is not recommended for use with oils, hydrocarbons, or acids per the technical data sheet. PTFE and graphite packing or gaskets should be selected based on process temperature and chemical compatibility requirements.
Temperature Limits by Design
Select Class 250 flanged configurations are rated up to 400°F, while Class 125 flanged versions are limited to 350°F. The 2932 is rated to 300°F for sizes up to 5" and 150°F for 6" and 8" sizes.
FLOW & CONTROL
Curve Selection
Equal percentage characteristic on both ports, linear on three-way configurations. Size your valve by selecting the Cv at minimum, nominal, and maximum flow rates rather than relying on line size alone.
Maximum Allowable Differential Pressure
Operating limits depend on the seat and trim configuration. On the 2932, the differential pressure between the upper and lower ports must not exceed 50 psid.
Fail-Safe Signal and Position
Pneumatic diaphragm actuators and pneumatic or electro-pneumatic positioners. Specify the control signal, instrument air supply, and required fail-safe action upon loss of air.
To size and select a Series 2900 valve, please specify flow rates, pressures, operating temperature, media, line size, flange ratings, and fail-safe position. Providing an existing nameplate and drawing will expedite technical verification.
Where to Use the Warren Controls 2900 Series
Two-way models are engineered for select liquid, gas, and steam services, while three-way configurations are documented specifically for liquid applications. Suitability for each installation depends on your specific operating conditions.
PNEUMATIC ACTUATION
DL49, DL84, DL115 Diaphragms and Positioning
The 2900 Series documentation details the DL49, DL84, or DL115 pneumatic diaphragm actuators, selected according to body size and required thrust. Spring configurations, control types, and accessories are custom-specified alongside the valve.

Diaphragm Actuation
DL49, DL84, and DL115: varied diaphragm areas and spring ranges, offering specific compatibility based on body size.
Pneumatic or 4–20 mA signal
Pneumatic actuation based on the spring range or electro-pneumatic control with a matched positioner. The 4–20 mA signal corresponds to positioning equipment, not the valve actuator.
Positioners and Limit Switches
Positioners, limit switches, analog feedback transmitters, and solenoid valves are documented as options, depending on your selected configuration.
What technical specifications are required for a 2900 series valve?
Clear sizing and specification eliminate errors in pressure rating, Cv, and face-to-face dimensions for both retrofit and new greenfield projects.
