Fail-Safe Reliability: Proper Loss-of-Power Behaviour

The PSF utilizes a spring return to retract its stem in the event of a power failure. The PSF-M is equipped with a handwheel and does not include this fail-safe return function. Both product lines feature a brushless motor and non-contact position measurement.

01

01

PSF Mechanical Spring Return

Select either a rising stem (OS&Y) or non-rising stem (NRS) for fail-safe operation.

02

02

PSF-M Manual Override

Handwheel and local push buttons for manual actuator override and control.

03

03

Integrated Control

Analog setpoint and feedback with automatic commissioning.

04

04

Non-Contact Position Sensing

The Hall effect sensor measures stroke without mechanical contact.

Three distinct configurations

The speeds indicated represent stem travel. Maximum thrust does not substitute for verifying allowable thrust throughout the entire stroke.

SPRING RETURN

PSF301/302 and PSF401/402

1 or 2 kN models engineered to return to a mechanical fail-safe position.

Load

1 or 2 kN

Stroke

5 to 40 mm

Motorized Operating Speed

0.3 mm/s

Safety

Rising or Non-Rising Stem (OS&Y or NRS)

Stem direction alone does not dictate whether the valve opens or closes.

QUICK-ACTING MODELS

PSF402.1 / PSF402.2

Two 2 kN configurations featuring distinct operating speeds.

Stroke

5 to 40 mm

Motorized PSF402.1

0.9 mm/s

PSF402.1 Spring-Loaded

1.1 mm/s ±10%

PSF402.2, Dual-Mode

2 mm/s ±10%

Total cycle time depends on the actual stroke length utilized.

MANUAL OVERRIDE

PSF-M301/302 and PSF-M401/402

Handwheel-operated configurations, without mechanical spring return.

Load

1 or 2 kN

Stroke

5 to 40 mm

1 kN Models

0.6 / 0.9 / 1.2 mm/s

2 kN models

0.5 / 0.75 / 1 mm/s

The speed is selected from the predefined values specified for this part number.

Setting the standard for reliable performance with VAMECA

We start with your valve’s required operating behaviour, particularly in fail-safe power loss conditions. We assist you in selecting between PSF and PSF-M, verifying the mechanical linkage, and identifying available configurations.

Valves and Assembly

Operating Torque Required

Specify running torque/thrust and seating force.

Stroke and Linkage

Record the stroke, stem connection, and bracket dimensions.

Fail-Safe Position

Define the stem travel and the expected actual valve position.

Power Generation and Environmental Solutions

Power Supply

24 V AC/DC or 100–240 V single-phase AC version.

Signal

Selectable 0/4–20 mA or 0/2–10 V setpoint and feedback.

Service and Professional Environment

Verify S2 30 min or S4 50% duty cycle, as well as an ambient temperature range of −10 to +60 °C.

Send us the nameplate data, a photo of the installation, and your operating requirements. VAMECA will work with you to specify the configuration, confirm availability, and review critical pre-installation checkpoints.

Complete Configuration

Accessories are selected based on the part number and connection type.

SIGNAL

Position switches or relays

Auxiliary contacts and position relays transmit status feedback directly to the PLC.

PROTECTION

Protection and Condensation Control

IP67 protection and anti-condensation heaters are optional features to select based on your specific installation requirements.

ORDER

On/Off or Modulating Control

The positioner is integrated. The signal, feedback, and binary control must match the selected wiring diagram.
