Recover residual product left in the line

Starmotion utilizes a fluid-propelled pig to displace residual product to the end of the piping system. This recovery process significantly reduces the volume of product flushed during CIP cleaning. Feasibility is determined by your line routing, fitting types, and product characteristics. VAMECA provides the local technical expertise to structure your engineering study using your piping schematics and production sequences, helping you evaluate and select the optimal pigging station and control configurations.

01

01

Pre-Cleaning Reclamation

Pigging displaces residual product to a designated recovery point within the process.

02

02

Three Pig Launcher and Receiver Configurations

Cleaning can be integrated inline or performed offline, depending on the selected plant layout.

03

03

Process-optimized scraper

One-piece or split-body designs, engineered with materials selected to match your specific media and CIP/cleaning processes.

04

04

Actuation and Instrumentation

The pigging control and tracking equipment integrates seamlessly into the operating sequence.

CONFIGURATION & SELECTION

CONFIGURATION & SELECTION

Define the pig traps and piggable line

Start with the pigging path. Internal diameter, directional changes, and fittings determine integration feasibility.

Three purge configurations

A cleanable pig trap station and a pig catcher station

A setup that pairs automatic inline cleaning with a receiving station at the other end.

Two CIP (clean-in-place) pig stations

An engineered solution for automated cleaning, featuring a clean-in-place (CIP) station at each end.

Two shut-off stations

An offline pig cleaning configuration with manual operations to be integrated into the operating procedure.

Selection Criteria

Sizes and Standards

Standard range from DN25 to DN150, available in SMS, DIN, and US standards. Dimensions must match actual pipe specifications.

Scraper and Sealing Solutions

Available as a one-piece VMQ silicone pig or a demountable version with replaceable lips. Station seals and pig seals are specified independently.

Piping Geometry

The catalogue specifically recommends a minimum of 3D bends and tees configured for pig guiding. Welds and bore transitions must also be thoroughly inspected.

Our role: to connect your product losses, line routing, and required equipment. Based on your layout, we establish the key feasibility points to review alongside DEFINOX and your team.

OPERATION AND DOCUMENTATION

Coordinate pick-up, return, and decontamination

The system must integrate seamlessly into the facility's operating sequences, with particular attention required for pigging speed and travel progression.

Push

Select the Motive Fluid

Selecting and controlling the pigging process depends specifically on viscosity, run length, and elevation changes. Line pressure and the displacement pressure required are two distinct parameters.

Control

Track Pig Progress

Define the detection points and pigging station states. Pigging-compatible Sorio models reliably control the dedicated actuators.

Cleaning

Maintain the sanitary process sequence

Pigging recovers product and does not replace CIP. Cleaning of the pig and pig stations must be engineered into the selected configuration.
