Construction and Key Characteristics

Inserting perforated sheet metal into PTFE helps mitigate cold flow under compressive loads. This must be taken into account when cutting gaskets and when evaluating performance against non-inserted PTFE.

Selecting the Proper Grade

When specifying a replacement, accurately identify the insert type and overall thickness. Never assume all PTFE grades offer identical compatibility with oxidizing agents.

To evaluate specific configurations: Garlock GYLON HP 3560 and Garlock GYLON HP 3561. The type of fillers or reinforcements directly alters gasket performance; belonging to the same PTFE family does not establish functional equivalence.
