KLINGER KLINGERSIL C-4400

KLINGERSIL C-4400 by KLINGER is a compressed gasket material engineered with aramid fibres and an NBR nitrile binder. This versatile grade is designed for industrial flat gasket applications; however, its operating limits depend strictly on the pressure/temperature curve and specific bolted joint assembly. It should not be confused with wire-reinforced grades such as C-4408.

Our Quebec facility manufactures custom-cut flat gaskets to your exact specifications. VAMECA can also evaluate the supply of this part number or engineer a suitable replacement.

The C-4400 Profile

KLINGERSIL C-4400 is based on a formulation of aramid fibres bonded with nitrile rubber. It is not a universal gasket suitable for all temperatures. KLINGER’s published limits must be interpreted using pressure/temperature diagrams, the thickness used, and the flange configuration. The reference material must be accurately identified: C-4400 is not C-4408 or C-4430.

Which Materials Should Be Compared?

The related reference materials feature three documented constructions: KLINGERSIL C-4408 with steel wire mesh, C-4409 with expanded metal reinforcement, and Flexitallic SF 3500 with aramid and glass fibres. Mechanical properties, approvals, and operating curves must be evaluated against the assembly's actual service conditions.

The Replacement Method

Combined pressure/temperature conditions, media type and concentration, cycling/shutdowns and startups, and gasket thickness must all be documented. Torque recommendations and any applicable regulatory approvals are among the factors to cross-reference. A current technical datasheet and the manufacturer's P/T diagram take precedence over generic crossover charts.

To compare constructions: KLINGER KLINGERSIL C-4408 and KLINGER KLINGERSIL C-4409. These grades share a common aramid/NBR family, but formulation, approvals, and pressure-temperature curves remain specific to each.

KEY COMPARISON CRITERIA

KLINGERSIL C-4408 and C-4409 utilize different metallic reinforcements: a wire mesh core for C-4408 and expanded metal for C-4409. Flexitallic SF 3500 combines aramid and glass fibres with an NBR binder, with no metallic reinforcement specified. These constructions are evaluated and compared based on their mechanical properties, test standards, and pressure-temperature curves.
