Garlock GRAPH-LOCK 3125

Garlock GRAPH-LOCK 3125 is a high-performance sealing material engineered from flexible graphite. Its homogeneous construction differs fundamentally from graphite gaskets reinforced with metal sheet or foil inserts. This distinction is critical: two graphite sheet styles can exhibit drastically different mechanical behaviors and bolt torque requirements in the field.

Our Quebec facility manufactures custom-cut flat gaskets to your exact specifications. VAMECA can also evaluate the supply of this part number or engineer a suitable replacement.

Homogeneous Flexible Graphite or Reinforced Graphite?

The GRAPH-LOCK 3125 style differs from sheet materials with perforated metal inserts, wire mesh, or foil. Depending on the thickness, manufacturing may also involve laminated construction. The sheet construction must be verified prior to any comparison: the presence of metal, adhesives, and the reinforcement type affect cutting capabilities as well as bolt-load retention and torque behaviour.

Temperature: Do Not Confuse Test Conditions

While graphite can withstand extreme temperatures, its performance in an oxidizing atmosphere differs significantly from that in an inert atmosphere. A catalogue maximum should never be represented as a universal operating temperature. The process gas, oxygen exposure, pressure, and thermal cycling must all be evaluated. Chemical compatibility and flange design calculations remain critical factors.

Which Criteria to Compare?

To properly evaluate an alternative sheet gasket material, compare purity, density, compressibility, recovery, creep relaxation, and gasket load factors. Gasket geometry, flange surface finish, and thermal operating conditions all impact sealing integrity. The GRAPH-LOCK 3125 technical data sheet should be cross-referenced against the official datasheet of the proposed alternative, without assuming direct interchangeability.

To compare gasket constructions: Garlock GRAPH-LOCK 3123 and TEADIT GP 1520. Graphite purity, anti-oxidation treatments, and operating limits in oxidizing environments are essential selection criteria.

KEY COMPARISON CRITERIA

Durlon FGS95 and other homogeneous flexible graphite sheet materials offer suitable baselines for comparison. Reinforced and laminated grades are not direct drop-in replacements. Always evaluate graphite purity, sheet construction, oxidation resistance, pressure ratings, and specific service conditions prior to selection.
