Flexitallic Thermiculite 715

Flexitallic Thermiculite 715 is an exfoliated vermiculite-based sheet material compounded with aramid and synthetic fibres, bonded with an NBR nitrile binder. Engineered without a metal reinforcement core, it offers a distinct, high-performance alternative to metallic Thermiculite grades.

Our Quebec facility manufactures custom-cut flat gaskets to your exact specifications. VAMECA can also evaluate the supply of this part number or engineer a suitable replacement.

Distinctive Construction Features

Thermiculite 715 is a sheet material formulated from exfoliated vermiculite combined with synthetic and aramid fibres, bound with NBR nitrile. It does not feature a metallic reinforcement core, distinguishing it clearly from metallic Thermiculite grades. This non-metallic construction allows for standard sheet-gasket cutting procedures. While the API 607 Fire-Safe test certificate and BS 7531 Grade X reference are listed on the data sheet, they do not imply that all pressure-temperature combinations are permissible.

Applications and Operating Conditions

The manufacturer designs this material for steam systems, select acid or alkaline solutions, and high-temperature installations compatible with an NBR binder. It specifies 454°C (850°F) as the recommended continuous service temperature for 1.5 mm thickness, within the designated flange rating. ASME B16.5 Class 300, EN 1092-1 PN40, depending on the assembly. Available thicknesses from 0.75 to 3 mm and a sheet size of 1,500 × 1,500 mm are listed in the technical data sheet.

Selection and Replacement Considerations

Cross-reference the chemical media against NBR compatibility, bolt loads, and thermal cycling. Unlike Thermiculite 815, 715 incorporates an elastomer binder and does not include a tanged stainless steel core. When selecting the appropriate material, verify the media, flange geometry, bolting specifications, thermal exposure duration, and required compliance certifications.

Also compare Garlock High-Temp 5500 and TEADIT NA1122. These references do not constitute a guarantee of interchangeability.
